This study presents the first quantitative proteomicsanalysisofsnakevenomfrom several species based on stable isotope labeling. The new SoPIL reagents that selectively label and isolate cysteine-containing peptides provide a powerful analytical tool to screensnakevenomsthat are cysteine-rich for many diverse classes of proteins.
Analysisofsnakevenomproteomes showed that there were statistical differences in the average percent composition ofsnakevenomcomponents (Table 1).
